LOT20 ECO DESIGN

Lot20 takes affect from January 1st 2018. It is an EU detective that the UK are are committed to. The aim is to make heating products more efficient. In order to contribute to the UK's carbon reduction targets. Many existing products will no longer be available. 


In 2009 the European parliament  established the frame work for the new ECO design directive. The aim was to establish a cost effective way, for our space heaters to reduce green house gas emissions. The new features will reduce the amount of energy the heater uses over its life span. 

Giving you, the user, more environmentally heaters that are more economical to run.  

Changes

Lot 20 is a huge to the electric heating industry. From the 1st of January 2018, non-compliant heaters can not be manufactured for sale in the UK. It is illegal to supply non-compliant product manufactured after this date. Non compliant product produced before 2018 can still be sold.    

"Range of Scope"

Inculded in the new derictive are: 

"domestic local space heaters with a nominal heat output of 50 kW or less and commercial local space heaters with a nominal heat output of the product or of a single segment of 120 kW or less."
